Hanna Bismark Ranch Zinfandel
Hanna Winery was founded in 1985 by Dr. Elias Hanna, a world- renowned cardiac surgeon who lives and practices in San Francisco. Born and raised on a farm in a small village in Syria where his family grew a variety of crops, including grapes and olive trees, He was anxious to find a place in the country to continue the farming heritage of his family. Dr. Hanna’s oldest daughter Christine now runs the day-to-day operations of the winery. “When you grow up around agriculture, you can’t help get connected to the process. It’s a wonderful business; combining farming, winemaking, sales and marketing." Beginning with 12 acres in the Russian River Valley, today Hanna Winery encompasses more than 600 acres of land with approximately 250 acres planted to vines in the Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley and the Mayacamas Mountains. Award winning wines are crafted at the newly remodeled winery in Santa Rosa. In the works is a new 100,000 case production facility at the Alexander Valley location.
Bismark Ranch Wines
The crown jewel is certainly Hanna's Bismark Ranch vineyard high atop the Mayacamas Mountains. Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Syrah and Zinfandel are grown on the steeply terraced hillsides. "It's like standing on top of the world!" says Christine Hanna. "The level of concentration and intensity in flavor make for astounding wines. After the extreme challenge of developing a mountainside vineyard, the Bismark wines are the just reward." Both Robert Parker and Wine Spectator's James Laube have given the Bismark wines excellent ratings.

The Wine Advocate - Rated 90 Points “This is a big, serious, full-throttle offering. The 2001 Zinfandel Bismark Ranch is rich, muscular, opulent thick and juicy. This dense, chewy, exuberant Zinfandel possesses enough acidity to support its lofty alcohol. The finish is persistent. Consume it over the next 3-4 years.” 10/31/03
