Kim Krawford

Since launch in 1996, the label has gained critical acclaim around the globe. Pouring a glass of Kim Crawford Wine promises great times with friends; it often heralds a spirited lunch or lively evening. It conveys confidence in a stylish, stimulating environment.

“We do things unconventionally; take risks, start things, welcome different. Screw caps keep wine fresher than corks. So we started championing them. We decided the world needed a clean, top quality, fruit driven Chardonnay devoid of the heavy oak. So we started making one.”

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is widely regarded as setting a global standard for this variety. A combination of dry and moderate climates gives near perfect cool climate growing conditions and assists with the intense varietal characters unique to Marlborough.

The Wine

Deriving from the French word sauvage ("wild") and blanc (“white”) ours is a crisp and powerful, well balanced wine with intense aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and citrus flavors. This light to medium bodied aromatic wine is a great match with salads, seafood and vegetarian dishes and perfectly acceptable to be enjoyed on its own!

Winemaker’s notes:

Grapes from all over the Marlborough Region are used in this blend where vineyards are selected by flavor profile for desired outcome. We tend towards the more herbaceous end of the flavor profile, ensuring Marlborough's typicity is retained.

Fruit is night harvested, when the temperatures are cool to minimize oxidation, making it easier to manage in the winery. After that, we tinker as little as possible, letting the vine and the flavor speak, gently guiding it through the course of the winemaking process.

Style wise, we are looking for upfront herbaceous aromas, backed by ripe fruit flavors of melon, passionfruit and crisp acidity.

Reviews

The color is pale green with an aroma bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits backed by characteristic herbaceous notes that Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is famous for. An exuberant wine brimming with flavors of pineapple and stonefruit with a hint of herbaceousness. The finish is fresh and zesty. You may cellar this wine it will continue to develop over time.

Wine Spectator

Fragrant and tropical, displaying pineapple, grapefruit, dragon fruit and melon flavors. There's a juicy acidity, with great persistence on the finish. Drink now.
