Planeta La Segreta
Planeta is a Journey through Sicily. And that journey begins at Sambuca di Sicilia, on the estate which the Planeta family has owned since the 1600s. Here on Italy’s most enchanting island, three enthusiastic young Sicilians, Alessio, Francesca and Santi Planeta, began their winemaking venture in the mid-1980s. Subsequent years were spent matching the extraordinarily diverse Sicilian soils with both indigenous and international varieties. Years of careful research paid off when the Planeta wines were met with immediate critical acclaim upon introduction in the U.S. in the late 1990s.
The trio’s newest winery is La Segreta in Menfi, upon which the Planeta winemaking expertise has been lavished to achieve wines of the very best quality. The grapes from this wine come from the Planeta winery’s first vineyard. The label pays tribute to this meaningful place with a map of the vineyard.
One of Europe's oldest viticultural regions still offers some pleasant surprises. Sicily's oenological history is an ancient one, dating from the time when the island was part of Magna Graecia.
The magic is in the fertile soil and Sicily's long, cloudless summers – with humidity but virtually no rain from June until harvesting in late August – two factors which make Sicilian vintages remarkably consistent from year to year.

Expressive up front, offering pretty orchard blossom, star fruit and melon notes, this well-knit white is subtle mid palate, with clean-cut acidity and a hint of fleur de sel defining the finish. Grecanico, Chardonnay, Viognier and Fiano.
Excellent as an aperitif, and a perfect match with raw seafood dishes, lightly fried appetizers, salads and all types of creative cuisine. A fun and versatile wine, ideal for parties and other festive gatherings.
